OnlineTeachers
Cocalico School District teachers monitor coursework and grade assignments.
Parent involvement is crucial. Parents serve as a Learning Guide at home and will have access to a parent/teacher guidebook.
Course Structure
Students move through topical unit folders, which are further broken down into lesson folders.
Online lesson folders include a mix of online learning videos, online interactive activities, workbook activities, manipulative activities, etc.
Earlier grade levels will have more offline activities involving workbooks and manipulatives than higher elementary levels.
By 5
th
grade, most of the lesson activities are completed online with some offline activities.
Daily Schedule
Lessons are independent and self-paced. There are no “live” sessions.
Students must log in and complete work each school day; however, they are not required to be logged on at a certain time of the day.
Students, in 1
st
-5
th
grade, should expect to spend an average of about
5 hours
per day on their school work. This can be broken up throughout the day. Kindergartners should expect to spend an average of
2-3 hours
per day on their lessons.
Student Accountability for Parents
Each activity, that has been completed, displays a check mark.
A calendar of suggested due dates for graded assignments is available on the student’s homepage.
Students receive notification about overdue assignments for the purpose of pacing. Points are not deducted for late work.
Each course displays the student’s current progress and grade.
