Below are just some of the ways problem solving and critical thinking skills are being taught to elementary students throughout the district.

Coding Lessons/Competitions

Through the use of Evo Bots, Dash & Dot Robots, and an array of software, students learn the basics of coding and use reasoning to complete tasks.

Odyssey of the Mind

Students work together to solve spontaneous problems and discover methods for presenting solutions to real-world problems.

STEM Activities

There are an array of activities that elementary students can participate in to encourage critical thinking in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. These include 24 Math Club, Science Explorers, Elementary STEM Bowl, Bricks4Kidz, and STEM club.

English Language Arts (ELA) Curriculum

Curriculum activities in ELA that encourage higher-level thinking, reasoning skills, and reflection include text-dependent analyses, literature circles, book discussions, and student book studies.
